The naming convention may be a little confusing but the Pico 4S is an upgrade on the Pico 4. Sure it just seems to be more of an incremental upgrade over a full fledged one. However it should be here sooner rather than later.
What are the Specs for the Pico 4S?
Back in June X user, Luna, leaked the specs for the Pico 4S, and it’s looking like a powerful little headset.
According to the leak the Pico 4S has the following specs:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2
- 12GB Ram
- Dual LCD’s with 2160p
- 90hz Screen (no 120hz support)
- Pancake Lenses with Motorized IPD/IAD Adjustment
- IR/Hand Tracked Controllers
- Cameras:
- 4 x IR Tracking Cameras
- 2 x RGB Passthrough Cameras
- 2 x IR Illuminators for Depth Sensing
- Mixed Reality features such as automated space set up and floating Spatial Panels for 2D apps with almost no window limit.
Most notably, and to be fair expected, the Pico 4S carries the same chip as the Meta Quest 3. However it also has 4GBs more of RAM.
Its also going to have Pancake Lenses and enhanced augmented reality capabilities.

When is the Pico 4S coming out and how much does it cost?
The Pico 4S should arrive much sooner than you might think. Back in June the Pico 4S was approved for South Korea, which is usually indicates general release should come very shortly after.
Given that the holidays are close, I would not be surprised to see the Pico 4S release in September or October.
For the price, nothing is confirmed yet. But given that it is similar in quality to the Meta Quest 3, we should expect it fall somewhere above £450.
