The horde mode is coming to all versions of the Bulletstorm VR on September 19th
The new Horde Mode for Bulletstorm VR is dropping soon, giving fans of the game a chance to face endless waves of enemies in tight, intense arenas. The DLC expands on the arcade style shooter, letting you hold out as long as possible against increasingly tough opponents.
It has been announced for September 19th. The new Horde Mode will be available on PSVR 2, PCVR, Quest 2/3, and Pico headsets.
If you didn’t play the original Bulletstorm back in 2011, it’s a fast-paced single-player shooter known for its Skillshot system. You get points for pulling off creative kills—think grabbing enemies with an energy whip, kicking them into slow-mo, then blasting them into traps like spikes or fire pits. The more stylish the kill, the more points you earn.
When Bulletstorm VR launched, it didn’t get the best reaction. The original game’s fast-paced combo system didn’t translate as smoothly to VR as many hoped. Sliding and kicking, core parts of the original game, felt awkward in VR, especially since they were tied to button presses instead of natural movements.
Graphics were also hit or miss. Some areas looked good, but others were muddy or had low-poly models, especially on the Quest. Plus, there were some technical issues, like buggy AI and objects clipping through each other, which didn’t help the immersion.
The new Horde Mode could be a step in the right direction. This mode simplifies things—there’s no story to worry about, just waves of enemies coming at you. It might be a better fit for VR since it’s all about quick, straightforward combat that you can play in short bursts.
If the gameplay feels smoother in this mode, it could give Bulletstorm VR a second chance to win over players. It’s the kind of fast action that VR works well for, so hopefully, this update will address some of the earlier problems.
We’ll see when the DLC drops on September 19th.
