Cities in video games have come a long way since the first open world titles, I still remember being blown away by Driver back on the PS1, and again by GTA 3 on the PS2. But if there was one thing that always disappointed with those games it was that it was all a facade, almost none of the buildings could be entered, they were just there for set dressing.
I’ll start off by saying I am no artist. I’m not terrible at drawing but I’m not great. I would like to be a good artist, but it’s just not in my wheelhouse. So I was delighted when I saw there is a new VR application called Pencil for the Meta Quest 3 that hopes to help me with this.
It’s been almost 3 years since the first NFL PRO ERA released and now coming into its third year the game is changing to a live service model. But that is not all, for the first time you will be able to play defense, engage in the new social features and you should expect a lot more updates as the season progresses due to the live service nature of the new game.
Let’s be frank, PSVR 2 players have had it a bit rough this year, oftentimes it has felt like the headset has been abandoned by Sony and the release of games worthy of your time was sparse. But thankfully that is changing in the second half of 2024, well not the Sony part), but lots of good games are coming for the system.
If there was a genre of games you would immediately think is perfect for VR, you would probably say it is Flight Sims. For starters wearing the headset feels like wearing a helmet adding to the immersion, no other medium is capable of making you feel like you are actually flying and you can gain so many advantages just by being able to naturally move your head to look around.
Of the two new games Combat Waffle featured in the VR Games Showcase Silent North looks like the most interesting.
In this Dayz inspired PvPvE multiplayer game you will face off against zombies and other players in the freezing Swiss Alps.
Superhot will always hold a special place in my heart. When I first got my PSVR 1 all those years ago and finally booted it up there was only one game I really wanted to play, Superhot. And it didn’t let me down. I showed it to my friends and 8 years later we still talk about it.
Well we finally got our first proper look at Hitman 3 VR Reloaded last night during the VR Games Showcase, and it looks incredible. Well maybe not the graphics in every part, but as a standalone VR game it is impressive.
This is one that everyone is looking forward to, personally it’s my most anticipated VR game of 2024. This is due to two things. First I loved Shadow of the Colossus. Second the developers are the guys who made Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, one of the best VR games ever made.
